In einer der angesehensten juristischen Fachzeitschrift der Welt, dem Harvard International Law Journal, diskutieren die beiden australischen Juristinnen Carolyn Evans und Betha Gaze im Rahmen eines vom australischen Steuerzahler finanzierten Forschungsprojektes zur Religionsfreiheit, ob es nicht an der Zeit wäre, die katholische Kirche im Namen der Menschenrechte zu zwingen, die Frauenordination einzuführen. Zumindest sollten »patriarchalische Religionen« ihren Gemeinnützigkeitsstatus im Steuerrecht verlieren (S. 43) und vor allem keinerlei staatliche Unterstützung mehr in irgendeiner Form erhalten (S. 46), wenn sie sich nicht dem Stand der Gesetzgebung anpassen.

The so-called „Elders“ have already pronounced against cultural and religious discrimination of women, but I’m not sure whether their calling to „change all discriminatory practices within their own religions and traditions“ also includes the ordination of women in Catholic church (and also protestant historical churches) or not. This is a huge debate, also here in Brazil; another one that, unfortunately, is dividing, again, the Church, in our difficult times. Of course women should not suffer any violence, physical or not, just because they are women. And the Bible don’t teach this at all: it says there that the husband must love his wife with the same love of Christ for His Church. Christ died for His Church; the husbands must be willing to do the same for their wives. If the Church accepts the ordination of women, at least from my opinion, it won’t be because the Bible say so, but just because our Zeitgeist say so. This is not… Weiterlesen »
